I haven't really had the energy to post of anything of any real consequence lately...
I have a bulldog named Daisy and she was one of a pair with Harley, whom my ex kept after our breakup. We often checked on each other's pups via email and phone and let each other know of anything that was going on with them.
This week I got a call from Gary letting me know that he was at the emrgency clinic with Harley who was having diarrhea. He said taht his gums were pale and ,having remembered my warnings about that, decided not to wait until the morning.
He called me back a few minutes later as I was getting dressed to go meet him and let me know that they had done xrays and found a mass in his abdomen. I got off the phone immediately of course adn drove the hour car ride to see my dog.
The xrays were poorly taken but there was an anomaly in his abdomen which turned out to be swollen lymph nodes. I advised Gary to leave him there until the morning when my hospital opened up so that he could be kept on fluids throughout the night to regain his strength.
Within twelve hours and after numerous tests and ultrasounds, we realized that he had disseminated lymhosarcoma and it was very advanced. We immediately transferred him once again to the best chemotherapy specialist in south florida. He was maintained on fluids and vitamins the rest of the day and waited to try a round of chemo in the morning.
Within twenty four hours of the treatment he was gone. There was so much cancer that the chemo pretty much destroyed him. We made teh decision to put him down and end his suffering.
So much to deal with in such a little amount of time. There was no warning. No symptoms to be seen prior to the diarrhea. Gary and I are a wreck. I take solace in my little girl Daisy who is still with me (THANK GOD)
REST IN PEACE MY FAITHFUL FRIEND.....
NEVER FORGOTTEN...
HARLEY
